The Challenge

Our client’s operators were facing unsafe and inefficient access to a sump located at the bottom of a steep hill. Every inspection required staff to physically walk or slide down the slop, posing significant safety risks, particularly in wet conditions.

This unsafe access method increased the potential for slips, trips, and falls, and made it difficult to perform regular maintenance on critical infrastructure. The client needed a long-term, compliant, and operator-friendly access solution.

Our Collaborative Approach

Working closely with a local civil contractor and the client’s operations team, we:

Conducted a site assessment to identify access hazards and compliance requirements.
Designed an AS 1657 compliant stair and platform system to suit the site conditions.
Coordinated with civil works to ensure a smooth, safe installation process.

AS 1657 compliant stairs for safe, structured descent to the sump.
Landing platforms at key intervals to reduce operator fatigue and improve safety.
Handrails for full compliance and operator support.
